Event: Ramazzotti x Luisa Kocht

The clouds did nothing to dampen the mood at the Ramazzotti/Luisa Kocht dinner at the Private Rooftop Club in Berlin last week.

Bottled in Milan for the legendary liquor experts Pernod Ricard, Ramazzotti is a longtime favorite of bitters fans all over, and having ingested an Aperitivo Rosato cocktail (or two…or four, sue me!) at the event, I can now say that I understand why. I’ve officially been converted guys. It is the perfect summer drink. Despite the overcast sky and chilly breeze on the makeshift rooftop bar, it felt like summer in a glass and I was taken very far away from my winteresque city, to an island in the South of Italy.  Thanks in part as well to the food of course.

If you want to give it a try, and trust me you do, you’ve got three options: Amaro, Aperitivo, Arancia. Amaro Ramazzotti is Italy’s oldest bitters. In existence since very long before you were born, 1815 to be more specific, the recipe has never changed, it never had to! It is thick, dark and ominously fruity. The kind drink one would enjoy in a study. The Aperitivo is decidedly lighter, a bright fruity flavor and the one responsible for the summer vibes. Finally, rounding off the lot is Arancia, the orange flavored limited edition.

After a few cocktails - see, I admitted it! - it was time to line our stomachs with something more substantial. Chef Luisa of Luisa Kocht prepared the most authentic mommas Italian cooking for us to enjoy, and all without a hint of meat. Eggplant, tomato, basil, hazelnuts and one perfect little ravioli all made their way onto our plates and into our hearts.

All in all, Ramazzotti organized a fantastic low-key night that brought the Italian summer to our dark and dreary Berlin.

  1. I wish there were more places like this, because it was simply too amazing for words. I came here with my boyfriend the other night, and it was absolutely fabulous. The use of wood throughout the venue NYC adds a very warm and inviting feel to venue.
