Cocolo Ramen (X-Berg)

What: Japanese

When: Dinner. Monday - Saturday: 12-23 / Sunday: 18-23

Where: Paul-Lincke-Ufer 39-40  => U-bahn: Kottbusser Tor  (U12/U8)

Why: I finally gave up the ghost of college past and traded in my beloved 10 cent ramen for the real deal and boy am I glad I did. I'm not proud of this, but after many years being a faithful fan of supermarket packet ramen, stereotypically keeping me going through those long nights of essays and exams, I had still never tried the real thing. Cocolo Ramen changed that when it popped up on my radar in my early months in  Berlin and I've been dying to try it since. Cocolo is yet another smash hit by the people under the Kuchi brand name, a Japanese and Asian Fusion powerhouse of restauranteurs in Berlin with hotspots in all corners of the capital, all of whom have been met with great success and loyal following. The flavors in the broth of the ramen were so developed and complex, every component offering something different and unique to the dish which then together somehow work so well. The gyoza, despite their despite their appearance, weren't actually too heavy and were really well seasoned. Only side note though: this should be enjoyed in the cool fall and winter seasons. Way too hearty for summer to me, which is the season I tested it out in.

How: Between €4 and €10
